Alloy 600 (UNS N06600, W. Nr. 2.4816) is a nickel-chromium alloy widely used in applications requiring heat and corrosion resistance, suitable for high temperature environments from cryogenic to 1100°C. Here are some key properties and applications of Alloy 600:
High temperature strength and oxidation resistance: make it very useful in many applications in the heat treatment industry.
Corrosion resistance: in the chemical industry, it can be used in applications that require resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, alkali corrosion, and high purity water corrosion.
Good mechanical properties: has an ideal combination of high strength and good machinability.
Heat treatment industry: used in furnaces, hearths, roller hearths and other furnace components, as well as heat treatment baskets and trays.
Chemical industry: can be used to manufacture heat exchangers, distillation column components and containers.
Protective sleeve: commonly used in thermocouple protective sleeves.

Hot working: It can be carried out in the temperature range of 1230 to 870°C. Full annealing requires heating to a temperature range of 1090 to 1150°C and then rapid cooling.
Welding: It can be welded using shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and gas metal arc welding processes.
For best results, do not preheat, keep the interpass temperature low, and use a reinforced weld profile.
Machinability: Machinability is slightly better than 304 stainless steel.
