UNS S31254 (F44, 1.4547) Overview


UNS S31254 is a super austenitic stainless steel alloy containing 6% molybdenum (Mo), which provides excellent corrosion resistance, especially in salt water environments.


Main Features


High ductility: The alloy has high ductility, which facilitates processing and forming. High resistance to pitting corrosion: It has high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.


Excellent corrosion resistance: It has excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of industrial environments, including salt spray environments.


Higher mechanical strength: Compared with other grades of stainless steel, UNS S31254 provides greater mechanical strength and enhanced pitting resistance.


Good processability and weldability: The alloy can be processed and welded without difficulty.


Application Areas


Oil and Gas Industry Components: Due to its corrosion resistance, it is suitable for manufacturing various components in the oil and gas industry.

Pumps and Valves: Used to manufacture pumps and valves that can still operate reliably in harsh environments.

Flanges and Fittings: Suitable for manufacturing flanges and fittings that require high strength and corrosion resistance.

Throttle Valves: Used to manufacture throttle valves used in the oil and gas industry.

Chemical composition (weight percentage):

Carbon (C): maximum 0.020%

Manganese (Mn): maximum 1.00%

Silicon (Si): maximum 0.70%

Sulfur (S): maximum 0.010%

Phosphorus (P): maximum 0.030%

Chromium (Cr): 19.50% - 20.50%

Nickel (Ni): minimum 17.50%, maximum 18.50%

Molybdenum (Mo): 6.00%

Nitrogen (N): maximum 0.25%

Copper (Cu): maximum 1.00%

PRen value: It is an indicator to predict the pitting corrosion resistance of stainless steel. The calculation formula is PREn = (Cr %) + 3.3(Mo %) + 16(N %)

Mechanical properties:

Tensile strength: 650 – 850 MPa0.2%

Yield strength: at least 300 MPa

Elongation: at least 35%

Hardness (maximum): 260 HB

Impact energy: 100 J

The material standard complies with BS EN 10088-3 standard, material number is 1.4547.
