Excellent High-Temperature Strength:
It exhibits excellent creep and stress-rupture resistance at high temperatures (typically above 600°C).
The significantly higher carbon content (compared to 800/800L) is the primary reason for its significantly improved high-temperature strength.
Excellent Oxidation Resistance:
In air, it can withstand long-term use at temperatures up to approximately 1100°C (depending on the environment and stress state).
It also performs well under cyclic oxidizing conditions (such as repeated heating and cooling).
Excellent Carburization Resistance:
It exhibits strong resistance to carburizing atmospheres (such as those containing CO and CH₄), effectively preventing carbon from penetrating the material and causing embrittlement. This is a key advantage for use in petrochemical and chemical furnaces.
Excellent High-Temperature Corrosion Resistance:
It exhibits some resistance to sulfur-containing atmospheres (such as H₂S and SO₂) and certain salt corrosion (such as vanadium salts).
Good Machinability and Weldability:
It can be machined and welded using conventional austenitic stainless steel and nickel-based alloy processing and welding methods (such as TIG, MIG, and arc welding). However, its low thermal conductivity and high coefficient of thermal expansion should be noted.
Good Hot and Cold Formability:
Although it is stronger than ordinary austenitic stainless steel, it still has good formability.
N08811 (Incoloy 800H) is a classic, cost-effective engineering material that addresses high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and carburization resistance in the 600°C to 1100°C temperature range. It plays an irreplaceable role in petrochemical cracking furnaces, hydrogen production reformers, heat treatment equipment, and other industrial furnaces requiring high-temperature structural stability.
