321 Austenitic Stainless Steel: The primary purpose of adding titanium is to preferentially combine with carbon to form titanium carbide, which improves the material's resistance to intergranular corrosion, making it an ideal choice for applications requiring good weldability, corrosion resistance, and excellent high-temperature performance.
Excellent Intergranular Corrosion Resistance: Titanium's stabilizing effect prevents intergranular corrosion caused by the precipitation of chromium carbides in the heat-affected zone of welds or after high-temperature service, a potential problem for 304 stainless steel under certain conditions.
Excellent High-Temperature Strength and Oxidation Resistance: Even after continuous exposure to temperatures of 600°C to 800°C, 321 stainless steel maintains higher strength than 304 stainless steel and offers excellent resistance to oxidation and carburization. Its high-temperature creep strength is also superior to that of 304 stainless steel.
Good Corrosion Resistance: Its corrosion resistance is comparable to that of 304 stainless steel in most atmospheric environments, various organic and inorganic chemicals, and food processing media. It is also resistant to oxidizing acids such as nitric acid and phosphoric acid.
Good formability and processing properties: It has the good ductility and toughness typical of austenitic stainless steels and is easy to cold form (such as bending and deep drawing).
