Material: N08904 (904L) is a super-austenitic special stainless steel with low carbon, high molybdenum, high chromium, and high nickel content.
Based on austenitic stainless steel, it increases the molybdenum, chromium, nickel, and copper content to achieve superior corrosion resistance, especially in environments with medium- to high-concentration sulfuric acid and chloride-containing solutions.
This grade was designed to address the common corrosion failure issues of 316 stainless steel in harsh chemical, petrochemical, marine, and environmental environments.
N08904 (UNS N08904 / 1.4539) is an ultra-low carbon, super-austenitic special stainless steel rich in chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen. Its excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking makes it an ideal choice over austenitic stainless steels 304 and 316 in chloride-containing environments. It is used in harsh corrosive environments such as the chemical, petrochemical, seawater treatment, and flue gas desulfurization industries. When 316L and 304L fail to meet corrosion resistance requirements, N08904 is the ideal choice, providing a reliable, high-performance solution.
