Inconel 600 is a high-temperature alloy composed of nickel, chromium and iron, and is made through the solid solution strengthening process. This alloy is renowned for its outstanding oxidation resistance in high-temperature environments, excellent corrosion resistance (especially resistance to alkaline corrosion), high strength, and good machinability.
Core functions and advantages
Outstanding high-temperature oxidation resistance: It can maintain excellent oxidation resistance even at temperatures up to approximately 1175°C, forming a dense and highly adhesive chromium oxide protective layer. It is particularly suitable for environments that undergo repeated heating and cooling cycles (i.e., thermal cycling), where its oxide layer can effectively prevent peeling.
Outstanding alkali resistance: It has extremely strong tolerance to molten alkaline solutions and corrosive liquids (such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide), making it highly suitable for use in high-alkaline environments.
Resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking: In water environments containing chloride ions, its resistance to stress corrosion cracking is superior to austenitic stainless steels (such as 304 and 316).
Resistance to freshwater and steam corrosion: It performs stably in high-temperature water and steam environments with extremely low corrosion levels.
Corrosion resistance to organic acids and inorganic acids: It has excellent corrosion resistance to various organic acids (such as fatty acids) and some inorganic acids (such as phosphoric acid). However, its corrosion resistance is limited in strong oxidizing acids (such as nitric acid) or reducing acids (such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid).
Carburizing and nitriding resistance: It performs exceptionally well in carburizing and nitriding environments.
